| Synopsis: Mr. Kulkarni, an accountant working during the British Raj, is a highly principled man and he absolutely reveres the british discipline. One day, he gets a message from the British General telling him that they would like to reward him for his outstanding work about which they have been extremely pleased. For the ocassion, Mr. Kulkarni leaves for Pune to meet the General. Before leaving he warns his widowed daughter Ganga against participating in the freedom movement and screaming out slogans with her friends. On his return from Pune the same evening, he finds a man with his daughter in the house. This shatters the ego of a righteous Mr. Kulkarni. After this episode a sense of hopelessness settles in on him which tells him that it is pointless to lead a disrespectful life...
